“Stepping Into a New Chapter: My Vision for a Mobile Library”

I’ve now been in the Philippines for a month. For the moment, I’m staying with my friend Arnold in Manila as I adjust, settle in, and get reacquainted with the culture. On September 1st, I’ll be moving up into the mountains—but even before arriving, I’ve had many meaningful conversations about how we can inspire young people in local communities to fall in love with reading and learning.
Through these conversations, the idea of creating Under the Mango Tree Mobile Library was born. The vision is simple but powerful: transform a minivan into a traveling library that can park at schools or community centers, open its doors, and welcome children into a safe and fun space for reading and study.
We imagine bookshelves filled with children’s books, a cozy reading mat with cushions, and a few round tables where students can study, receive tutoring, or work on homework together. Beyond academics, it will also be a place where we can share God’s light—through gentle worship music, Christian children’s books, and Bibles available for those who want them.
Because the library is mobile, it won’t be limited to just one village or town. Over time, it can travel through the mountains and eventually reach youth in communities all across the Philippines.
This is my vision—and I would love for you to be a part of bringing it to life.

The Project Costs
To make this dream a reality, here’s the breakdown of expenses:
Minivan – $4,000
Reading mat & cushion furniture – $200
Tables & bookshelves – $200
Two canopy tents – $200
Books, Bibles to give away, pens, paper, art supplies & other materials – $200
Total Project Cost: $4,800. Already saved: $300. Still needed: $4,500
I believe this project can be a source of hope, learning, and joy for many children. If you feel led, I humbly ask you to consider partnering with me—whether through prayer, encouragement, or financial support—to help make this vision a reality. Together, we can spread light, education, and God’s love to the youth of the Philippines.
